New Executive Director for CAMTS Announced
United States, November 1, 2024 – The Board of Directors for CAMTS (Commission on Accreditation
of Medical Transport Systems) is excited to announce the appointment of the new Executive Director of
CAMTS. Jan Eichel, a highly respected veteran of the medical transport industry, will take over the
leadership of CAMTS from Eileen Frazer, who is retiring at the end of this year, after founding CAMTS in
1990.
Dr. Frank Guyette, Board Chair of CAMTS, notes that a nationwide search was conducted, and Jan
Eichel was chosen unanimously by the Board from among many highly qualified candidates. “Among
the talented people we interviewed, Jan Eichel clearly rose to the top on the strength of her vision,
energy, and new ideas for medical transport safety certification. She recognizes the various ways the
accreditation process might serve our customers even more effectively in the future. We believe she will
build on what is best about CAMTS, while leading the organization into new eras of innovation and
customer service.”
Jan Eichel has over 35 years of experience in the transport industry as a flight nurse, clinical director,
and educator on both regional and national levels. In 2023 she was inducted as a Fellow in the
Academy of Air & Surface Transport Nurses, in recognition of her significant impact on the critical care
transport industry. “I am honored to have been selected as the next Executive Director,” Ms. Eichel
said, “and excited to build on the wonderful foundation laid by our founder, Eileen Frazer, and many
others over the past three decades. I am also eager to position CAMTS for a new generation of impact –
to explore new ideas and new technology to serve our customers’ needs.” Ms. Eichel also noted her
focus on future growth. “We recognize the ways in which our industry is changing,” she said, “and it is
important that CAMTS be known for its agile response to those changes, as well as the diversification of
our services.”
The founder of CAMTS, Eileen Frazer, who will be retiring at the end of this year, said she is thrilled at
the appointment of Jan Eichel as the new Executive Director. “Jan understands this industry better than
almost anyone, and I know she will bring strong and visionary leadership to CAMTS. She will not only
nurture what we have built over the years, but she will bring new ideas to serve our customers and,
ultimately, ensure the safety of patients and medical staff.”
As the first organization to create stringent, monitored patient and transport standards for the medical
transport industry, CAMTS continues to be one of the premier authorities in the industry today, and
looks forward to building on that pioneering history for a new generation.
